Walking trails to be reopened today

Islamabad : The walking trails would be reopened for visitors today (Saturday) after closure for some time due to a number of fire incidents in the Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP).
The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) held a detailed meeting and reviewed the arrangements to ensure no human-triggered fire incidents happen in the future.
An official said “We have evaluated the situation and come to the decision that there is a need to further increase the monitoring especially in those areas that attract visitors and trekkers.”
It is pertinent to mention here that IWMB has deputed fifty guards that would round-the-clock monitor the areas falling in the vicinity of the MHNP.

Islamabad : Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Friday said it was a great honour for Pakistan to host World Environment Day on Saturday, themed ‘Ecosystem Restoration’.
Speaking at an inauguration ceremony of two-day photographic exhibition at the Pak-China Friendship Centre, he said it was recognition of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s initiatives on the environment globally.
Fawad said the incumbent government had disseminated the maximum information about environmental hazards, which was unmatched as compared to the past governments.
He said the credit went to the environment friendly vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

‘Ready to fill jails’, traders to open shops till 8pm today

Highlighting the businesses’ deteriorating condition amid the ongoing lockdown restrictions, Karachi’s leading traders’ associations announced on Friday they would open shops and businesses till 8pm today and vowed to resist the Sindh government’s order to seal shops for violating the lockdown and Covid-19 standard operating procedures.
